Metazoa, is a game of evolution, where 500 million years is distilled into five minutes and participants are required to physically move and engage not only with the character their bodies are mobilizing on-screen, but also with each other as their on-screen characters interact. Beginning as a protozoa and progressing through seven ages and seven animal forms before returning back to the beginning of the cycle, each cycle ends with a cataclysmic event before a new series of forms arises. Finally, the notion of our evolution as humans into ‘cyborgs’, is explored. Fanciful perhaps, but also a challenging metaphor as society becomes increasingly dependent on machines and less connected to the physical world.
” Metazoa weaves the mythical with the everyday in a tangible experience. It is an experiment, which seeks to interrupt the familiar sense of self and question the use of our senses and our relationship with machines as cultural restraint. ”
